Dear Prospective Applicant:
Thank you for expressing interest
in employment at Intown Community School. We exist
as an educational ministry of Intown Community Church,
first to its families, and then to families in churches
in the surrounding environs. We will continue to
offer Grades K-8 for the 2009-2010 school year and
have an enrollment of approximately 200 students.
Our desire is to seek out well-qualified teachers
who have a personal love for the Lord Jesus and
His children, as well as a strong professional background
and aptitude in the field of education.
We view the home as central
to the child's life and learning and thus act as
an extension of the Christian family. In look and
feel, we reflect more of a family atmosphere. Our
small class sizes, shortened hours for Grades K
- 3, and strong parental involvement make Intown
School an ideal environment for teachers who truly
want to practice their craft in a fulfilling way.
Because of our view of the child
and learning, we have set about to create a curriculum
that expresses those beliefs. We have drawn upon
a number of sources to bring this about. Among those
are Dr. David Elkind, Dr. Raymond Moore, Mary Pride
and Susan Schaeffer Macaulay. As well, the influences
of Charlotte Mason, an early 20th century English
educator, have been instrumental in forming our
educational philosophy and methods. Of course, the
Truth of the Scriptures forms the foundation of
all we think and do. If you have interest in teaching
at Intown, please complete and return the attached
form "Teacher Application Part I: Expressing
Interest" which can be viewed using Adobe Acrobat.
Also, feel free to visit our school or take a look
at the other information on our website to catch
a glimpse of some of the latest happenings at Intown.
Sincerely in Christ,
Pam Stegall
